How To Soar in PSLE - BTPS Way!!

Interact with complex questions / graphs / pictures to pick up valuable clues (don't highlight - just use your pen to underline words or scribble notes)

Start with Booklet A and do it meticulously with full focus - explore all 4 distractors before making final choice.

MANAGE your TIME - to score well, you need to try to finish ALL questions.

Specific answers = answers that are relevant to question.

When confused, choose any of the following strategies:

1. Ask, "What Science idea is being used in question?"
2. Pose other questions to clarify your thoughts
3. COMPARE to another set-up
4. COMPARE to a reverse situation
5. Connect to your knowledge in life (yes, you do have lots of prior / other knowledge)
6. Break down your answer in steps before crafting final answer.

Common problems with wrong answers:
*Answers are generic/vague and do not connect to that specific question
*Answers are not scientific and do not explain using Science ideas
*Answers do not make use of data provided when asked
*Answers did not make comparisons - use words like more/most etc..when asked

There is More to Cycling than just a Bicycle!

Picture From 3M

Explain clearly how clothes/gear with reflective material can help a person cycling at night?

Whenever you are unsure about how to answer a question, you can compare the situation to a reverse situation: here - wearing clothes with no reflective material.

When car drivers turn on their headlights, the light from the headlights will shine onto the reflective material which is the gear and then bounce back to towards the drivers eyes, allowing them to see you clearly. As it is dark at night, the light shone on you wii appear very bright in contrast to the darkness.

When wearing reflective materials at night, it would allow drivers to see you even if you are wearing a dark clothing. The light from the dirvers car would be refelcted from the refected clothing into the drivers eye. It also protects you as wearing an extra layer of clothes also help minimise the contact of you spine when you fall. Wearing bright clothing would also help, but not as effectively as reflective stripes.

At night, drivers will on their headlights and the light will be reflected by the cyclist's clothes/gears back to the drivers eyes (not sure if the light will blind the driver). This allows the driver to see the cyclist and will avoid banging into him/her. Naomi 6G

The light from the car's headlights falls onto the gear and is reflected to the driver's ears.

In the night, less amount of light would be present. Thus when the headlights of the car shines light on the cyclist, reflective materials will allow light to be bounced off it and reflected to the driver's eyes, allowing the driver to see the cyclist and ensuring the safety of the cyclist.

Using reflective materials when cycling at night, it helps to reflect light in dark and allow people to know your position. This is also to allow other cyclists, drivers or pedestrians to avoid hitting you or getting hit by you. Reflective vest and bands reflect light to let other people see you as they are shiny. Also, these items provide you with a extra layer of protection, giving you a extra help. The reflective vest reflects the light into the driver or pedestrian's eyes, letting them see you.

when you use reflective material or luminous bright coloued shirt when you are cycling, the vehicle comingb towards you will shine thier lights on you and the light will reflect the reflective material or the bright shirt you are wearing that will allow the driver of the vehicle see you coming from the opposite direction.

The reflectors are very helpful indeed. I found a good article about the helmet as well at www.term-paper-research.com. I'm a beginner at cycling, but I think I'll do great.

When Ice Changes into Water by Goh Chee Yan - 5G

Do you wonder whether the mass of ice changes when it melts into water. Try this out:

1. Put a few ice cubes into a plastic bag
2. Tie the mouth of the bag tightly
3. Weigh the bag of ice cubes (if there is condensation outside the bag, wipe it dry before weighing)
4. Place the bag in the sun
5. When ice has melted, wipe the outside of the bag dry (refer to step 3)
6. Weigh the bag

You will discover that the mass of the bag remains the same!
There is no change in mass when ice melts!!
