How To Soar in PSLE - BTPS Way!!
Interact with complex questions / graphs / pictures to pick up valuable clues (don't highlight - just use your pen to underline words or scribble notes)
Start with Booklet A and do it meticulously with full focus - explore all 4 distractors before making final choice.
MANAGE your TIME - to score well, you need to try to finish ALL questions.
Specific answers = answers that are relevant to question.
When confused, choose any of the following strategies:
1. Ask, "What Science idea is being used in question?"
2. Pose other questions to clarify your thoughts
3. COMPARE to another set-up
4. COMPARE to a reverse situation
5. Connect to your knowledge in life (yes, you do have lots of prior / other knowledge)
6. Break down your answer in steps before crafting final answer.
Common problems with wrong answers:
*Answers are generic/vague and do not connect to that specific question
*Answers are not scientific and do not explain using Science ideas
*Answers do not make use of data provided when asked
*Answers did not make comparisons - use words like more/most etc..when asked
BTPS supports all P6 in achieving their PSLE GOALS!!
Sunny Sunflowers
What are the differences in the two flowers?
One seed or Many seeds? Explain how you came to your conclusion.
Science Around Me (SAM)
SAM is a Science journal that allows pupils to express themselves in their favourite ways about Science.
SAM is another great opportunity for pupils to THINK and TALK Science in a medium that is customised to their learning styles.
SAM allows teachers to informally assess understanding of the child and clarify misconceptions in their learning.
When Ice Changes into Water by Goh Chee Yan - 5G
Do you wonder whether the mass of ice changes when it melts into water. Try this out:
1. Put a few ice cubes into a plastic bag
2. Tie the mouth of the bag tightly
3. Weigh the bag of ice cubes (if there is condensation outside the bag, wipe it dry before weighing)
4. Place the bag in the sun
5. When ice has melted, wipe the outside of the bag dry (refer to step 3)
6. Weigh the bag
You will discover that the mass of the bag remains the same!
There is no change in mass when ice melts!!

One of the photos show a sunflower plant growing healthily as it looks all bright and radiant. However. on the other hand, the scond picture shows a sun flower which has been wilted and its flowers and I think the suflower has only one sedd by looking at the picture as sunflowers grow one at a time and are also found in big plantations by farmers in other countries.

One of them looks healthy and the other has wilted petals. Although the sunflower has wilted petals, I think that it is still healthy, like its going to be a fruit. A fruit may be only one seed or many seeds, but I think that it has many seeds. Usually, when we buy sunflower seeds, it comes in a packet with small seeds that we can crack open to eat, like as big as Hamtaro. So, I think that the fruit of the sunflower has many seeds! Normally, the sunflower has the big and round brownish centre right? However, the small seeds are so small that maybe 10 seeds can fit into it. Also, the Uncle or Auntie at the shop who sells Sunflower Seeds, sells many packets at a time, so, if the fruit of a sunflower produces one seed at a time, the people who grow sunflowers must have it hard, to plant so many sunflowers at a time... Haha..

The first picture show a sunflower plant growily heathily as it is standing up strong and look very bright. But the second photo is opposite, it shows a sunflower which i think has gone through fertilisation and the petals wilted.I think is still healthy as it can become a fruit. I think sunflowers has many seeds. Same as YiLin reason, a sunflower packet usually have many seeds and they are light-green in colour and is about -.

The first picture has a healthy sun flower and the picture below has a sunflower which had wilted the picture below to me I think it is dead as the petals had wilted and if it is fertilise the sun flower should have the sepal dropping off but the picture does not have the sepal dropping off or gone .sunflower usually has a brown or black centre it has many seeds as we look carefully,
Typically, there are 34 spirals in one direction and 55 in the other; on a very large sunflower there could be 89 in one direction and 144 in the other. This pattern produces the most efficient packing of seeds within the flower head and which means that it has many seeds in one flower “sunflower seeds," but are actually the fruit (an achene) of the plant. The inedible husk is the wall of the fruit and the true seed lies within the kernel. The sunflower head is not a single flower (as the name implies) but is made up of 1,000 to 2,000 individual flowers joined at a common receptacle. which mean that there are 1000-2000 “fruits” in sunflower that proof that one sun flower has many seeds (bee and other animals are very important in order for the plant to pollinate and fertilise)

The first photo shows a healthy sunflower that is standing upright. The second photo shows a sunflower with wilted petals. Most probably, the sunflower has already been pollinated and fertilised and growing into a fruit, so the petals are wilted. I think the sunflower has many seeds in one flower. Sometimes, we see hamsters eating sunflowers. And usually when we see them eating, they are eating a lot. So if it is a seed per sunflower, then we would have to plant plenty of sunflowers to provide the hamsters with food!

The 1st flower is healthy and strong but the 2nd flower is wilting and looks like it is dying. The 2nd flower's petal looks like it's wilting. Therefore, I think the 2nd flower is just being fertilised.I think it have many seeds as, not by looking at the plant, but by experience, people buy packets of sunflower seeds to eat. 1 flower per seed is impossible. There are always so many seeds in a packet and not that expensive too. Therefore, the seeds looks like it is easy earned:D. We can test it out by cutting the ovary open and seeing whether it has many seeds or one seed. Just cut the outer part of the ovary skin bit by bit, and see the results. Happy finding!!
